WOSTEP Neuchatel, Switzerland

Swiss-Trained Clockmakers & Technical Overhauls

Melbourne’s only workshop with Swiss-trained clockmakers, applying WOSTEP-level precision and generational expertise to the city’s finest antique timepieces.

Training that goes beyond the basics

Our clockmakers have trained at WOSTEP in Neuchatel, Switzerland — the same institution that trains watchmakers for the world’s leading Swiss houses. That level of precision carries directly across to antique clock movements, where correct geometry and timing matter just as much as in a fine watch.

We also travel regularly to the Basle Fair, the world’s largest clock and watch show, to source the Swiss, German and Austrian lathes, mills and pivot polishers that keep our workshop capable of the most technically demanding repairs.

What a technical overhaul covers

  • Full movement strip-down with ultrasonic cleaning of every component.
  • Pivot burnishing on a Swiss Hauser machine, restoring the original mirror finish.
  • Re-bushing of worn plates to correct geometry, not just patch wear.
  • Electronic timing to regulate beat and rate with precision, not guesswork.
  • Minimum two-week bench test confirming chiming, striking and timekeeping before return.
Who this suits

For clocks that deserve more than a basic clean

Technical overhauls suit clocks with complex striking or chiming trains, complications, or movements that have been poorly serviced in the past and need correcting at a deeper level — English long-case, French, German and American movements included.
